Contest rules reminder
Okay, guys, we're in the Final Fifteen for the 1,000th Image Contest. So here's a little brush up on the rules so no one's entry is disqualified.
(1) There's a number in every strip between now and 1,000. When I post image 985, no more entries will be accepted.
(2) Send your guess in an email to dnrfeedback@yahoo.com. Put the time and date as to when you think I'll post that 1,000th image in the subject line, not in the body of the text. The subject line. I'll be using this addy after the contest as a means for you to send comments if you're too shy (or whatever) to post them here, but for right now, this is for the contest only.
(3) You can enter as often as you wish. If you've already guessed, and you guessed wrong, submit another entry.
(4) The three closest -- either above or below -- to the actual time the image is posted will win. In the event that two or more people come up with the same time, the first one to post it will win.
(5) The prizes are outlined in the the previous contest post, and trust me: they're good ones.
(6) To keep everything on the up and up, I cannot access this email account. It's being administrated by longtime friend Randy Riddle, who will send me the password information once the 1,000th image is posted. Until then, I cannot see it, so I have no idea if you're close or not. So dont ask. :-)
So that's it. If you have any questions, put them in the comments below, and I'll answer asap. Thanks, all of you, for being such great fans. I appreciate it more than I can say.

Tinkering
This image doesnt count towards the 1,000; it's just a bit of playing with an old character mesh that I took off a dusty shelf in the back and cleaned off a bit. And it seems to clean up right purty. He's a bit more realistic than I'm usually wont to do, but still... presented for your enjoyment. It's a 1280x800 image, so click through to the actual size if you want to use it as a desktop.

More contest info
Okay, the email address -- dnrfeedback@yahoo.com, which Randy made sort of handy for those who want, after the contest, to send me marriage proposals and perhaps suggestions of a less honoourable sort. I wont see them for a while, remember -- but feel free to send them anyway. :-)
However, until then: remember -- put the date and time in the subject line. You can add anything you want in the text box, but date and time of the 1,000th cartoon must be the subject.
AND — just to make things a bit more interesting — we're gonna extend the deadline for entries to cartoon 985. Why 985, you ask? To quote a favourite web comic writer, "because I can..."

A Public Service Announcement!
So.
The Doc and Raider Millennial Contest.
Here's how the contest will work. As you can see in the upper left corner, there's a number that will tell you where we are in the countdown. You are to guess when -- both date and time -- the 1,000th entry will go up. It is imperative that I not see the entries, so Randy Riddle, longtime fan, has agreed to set up a Yahoo email account strictly for this contest. You'll send your guesses there. He alone will be able to access it; I wont have the password, nor will I see any of the mail received in it until I put up cartoon/image/whatever-it-winds-up-being #1,000.
Once it's posted, he'll send me the access information, and I'll dive in, looking to see who got the closest. What does that person win, you ask? Well, more than one winner, actually, so here's the list to date.
GRAND PRIZE: a $100 Amazon gift card and the DnR t-shirt of your choice, as well as the first pull of a limited edition Doc and Raider print that will go on sale after the contest. But the first one, bubalah, is yours, signed and numbered.
SECOND PRIZE: a $50 Amazon gift card and the DnR tee of your choice.
THIRD PRIZE: a $25 Amazon gift card.
See? We're not screwing around here. This is a big deal for me, and I want it to be a big deal for you. Multiple entries are permitted, and I expect an absolute feeding frenzy the closer we get to the magic number 1,000. The email you send must have the date and time in the subject line; otherwise, it'll be disqualified. No, I dont accept bribes (darn my sense of integrity!), but beyond that, it is absolutely essential that you do not contact me directly with your entry. If you do, you're out of the game.
If by some weird chance two people come in with the same correct entry, the person who has posted it first wins.
Entries will be accepted only until cartoon 980 is posted. That's your cut-off point.
As soon as I know the address Randy has set up, I'll post it here. Good luck to all of you, and thank you for being such great readers.

No interest!
Rather than grouping the single panels posted on Pan Historia, as I did last year, I'll be posting them here as they appear there... because, dear Reader, we are at cartoon 950. The countdown has officially begun to number 1,000.
There will be, as I noted earlier, a contest for the person who comes closest to the exact date and time that that magical number is posted; you can expect to see details on that in a few days.

Something's up... (10)
So yeah, looks like I've made a bit of a decision.
We'll return to happier fare tomorrow... maybe later tonight if I get the energy. :-)
