Black Friday!

Let me slap on the sleeve garters...

... because the Doc and Raider Really Classy Boutique is open for business.

The shelves are a little empty for the moment: a couple of tshirts, a sweatshirt, some Christmas cards, and a way-better-than-plastic tote bag, but you watch, we gonna get really classy as time goes on. I'm also looking into a publisher for the first year's collection, so stick around for news on that.

Now, those of you who remember the financial arrangement for the original cartoon will be happy to know that the spirit lives on here as well. For those who dont, here's how it goes: I dont take a profit from this. Instead, it's going to go to a favoured charity, and around Christmas we're gonna have a little poll to see where the money should go. In the interim, send me your suggestions, and I'll start checking them out. Remember that originally, Doc and Raider supported everything from AIDS hospices to arts festivals, so any- and everything is fair game.

Looking forward to hearing what you have in mind. Send those recommendations to sean@joey-aristophanes.com, comment here, or leave a note on my Facebook page.

Now available!

Thanksgiving 2009

A little late for my Canadian friends, a little early for my American ones... Yeah, yeah, I know: I should be posting Christmas jokes by now. Dont worry: starting on the US Black Friday, I will... with a vengeance.

Single panels 3!

With the daily panels at Pan Historia and the pretty-much-daily strips here, I've built up quite the collection since the blog started in January: almost 300 works, not including the wallpapers and animation tests. And it's still as much fun to do as it was when the comic started in 1988. Hopefully, you agree.

Holiday Wallpaper 1

First in a series. This is actually one of the images for the Christmas cards that'll be on sale this weekend at DnR's CafePress store.

Sex tapes!

Some of you may remember Elliot from the old series, particularly from "The Steps". Well, he's still looking for love in all the wrong places...

Single panels 2!

More of the single-panel stuff that's going up at PanHistoria. As noted before, some of these are reworks from the original series, just to see how well they move from one format to another.

And for those who remember the early animation tests (like the one at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9VdPAvf_VQ), there's gonna be some more going up later this week. No dialogue yet, but we're treating these like silent movies for the moment.

Coming soon to a strip mall near you!

Well, not quite to a strip mall, but look next week for the official opening of the CafePress DnR store. It wont be a big inventory: a few tshirts, some greeting cards, some other odds and ends. But folks keep asking when I'm gonna do it, so here it is, gang.

And the fact that it's this close to the holidays is completely coincidental.

Honest.

No, really, I swear.

A quartet of single-panels

As noted earlier, the boys also appear (among other places) at PanHistoria.com, where I've been creating single panels for the members' enjoyment. Some of these are re-works of the old series, just to put them in the new style and see how well they fly; others are originals. At any rate, here's a smattering of how they're looking over there. Enjoy!

Bigger IS better!

200!

This is the 200th entry since this blog was begun in January. Woo-hoo!

Healthcare passes!

Y'know...

... sometimes a storyline just doesnt work out like you want it to. So I'm gonna leave the current one and put it to the side until I get a better handle on it. Back to the one-shots for a while, I think.

A side note.

I've been recreating some of the original panels in the new format for the entries at PanHistoria, but I had to share this one here because it's a bit of a breakthrough for me.

My modeling program has had dynamic cloth capabilities for some years now, but I just never quite got the hang of it: things kept poking through when they shouldnt have (and please, keep your minds out of the gutter on that one! :-) ), the cloth never quite fell right and draped in bizarre ways -- all in all, an upsetting experience that made me think, okay, I dont really need this particular tool.

Then last night I thought, what the heck, let's give it another shot. Lo and behold, it worked! It took a few tries to figure out how large to make the cloth panel so it would hang properly, but by gosh and golly the darn thing worked.

And I'm sure most of you are thinking, yeah, Sean, we get it: now get back to the cartoon, huh? Okay, okay... durn bunch of task-masters..... :-)

Thanks, America!

What happened in Maine yesterday is an embarrassment to a country that claims to believe in the spirit of individualism and equality. I gather one can only be an individual if one is exactly like all the other acceptable "individuals" out there.

Gay terrorists!

National Kissing Day!

No, it's not, actually.

But that's no reason why it cant be...

Just sayin'.
