Okay, I have to admit: I'm a Yankees fan. But whoever takes it this year, this is arguably one of the best series I've followed in a long time.

Pan Historia's Halloween Ball
PanHistoria, as I noted earlier, is a role-playing site, mostly for people into history of one form or another. I've been a member for years, in the Athens novel, but I introduced DnR into the proceedings at the last PH anniversary party, and the reaction was so positive that the boys wound up staying around. So now there's a thread working of a virtual "costume ball", with many of the PH membership in dress-up (that usually comes from a photo of the person their RP character is based on). Naturally, Doc whined that he wanted to go, so here they are, as Britannicus 3000 and his consort, Le French Tickler.
Sometimes I just have way too much time on my hands.....

A little more catch-up
Old panels done last year that never quite made it in the current collection, but too good to be simply abandoned... Well, I think so anyway. :)

As you can see...
... the guys are now on FaceBook. If you're a member there, consider becoming a fan. Otherwise, I'll have to send Mik to show you what he learned last week in his MMA classes.....

Cows!

I suppose I should point out that Michael Steele did indeed say the whole thing about "cow on the tracks". Honest. Google it, and you can read the entire whacked out exchange between him and some commentator from Fox, who at least had the good manners not to laugh until after the interview was over.
Sometimes you just cant make this stuff up.

Mik and Kai Get Hitched 1!

The cartoon appears in a few other places than this, but this particular storyline will be seen only on the blog.
Back in the day, one of my favourite sequences was when Doc and Raider got married, from the awkward proposal to the last-minute cold feet to the happily-ever-after we knew they were gonna get. As with the bashing story, I wanted to revisit it, but given the nature of their relationship now, that'd be a bit awkward, if not straight up silly.
So I'm gonna go through it again with Mik and Kai, their best friends. Not only will it give me a chance to give the whole sequence a second look, but it'll allow these two to come into their own in the DnR universe. It's going to run concurrently with whatever panels and stories I have for my main twosome, but I'll keep the labelling clear enough that you can find it. And I hope you enjoy it.

Christmas is coming, so...
... if you're into cross-stitch and want something unusual as a special gift for that special guy, this might fill the bill.Okay, see, the thing is, I was playing around with pattern making this afternoon and found this handy little tutorial on how to make your own cross-stitch artwork. Bear in mind that I'm not really into cross-stitch, so I dont know what the ramifications are, what thread colours you'd need, or even how big this thing would be when it's done. It's all just an experiment.
But if by some wild chance you take me up on this puppy, I'd love to see how it came out. Click the image here for the full size version... but if you're a regular reader, you already know that, right? :)
And if it feels like the cartoon is wandering a bit these days... that's because it is. We're all on a little road to discovery. :) Still, regular panel stuff will be returning soon enough, with the occasional toy (like this) thrown in just to keep you on yer toes.

The Window of Opportunity
(my submission for a collection at PanHistoria)

"It panes me to ask this, but, Doc, what are you doing?"
"I'm carrying a sheet of glass."
"Yes, yes, that's... uh... clear (God, I crack myself up sometimes...). The larger, looming, and perhaps needed to be asked question is why."
"It's my Window of Opportunity."
"Your Window -- ?"
" -- of Opportunity. Yes. See, I'm looking out at new horizons. I'm making my own success. I take my Window with me everywhere I go, and I'm right on the onramp to the Freeway of Financial Independence. Wealthy beyond my wildest dreams. Rich, I tell you, Raider, rich!"
"All because of this sheet of glass in your hands."
"You got it."
"So what happens when Success comes knocking?"
"I look at it through my Window and say Helllllooooooo, Nurse!, and I reach right out and shake its hand."
"Uh... how?"
"What do you mean, how. The way I always shake hands with someone."
"But your hands are a little full at the moment."
"Sure. I just set down my Window of Opportunity and -- "
" -- and then you're not looking through it and Success scampers off when your back is turned. Buh-bye, Nurse."
"Hmm. Yeah, that could be a problem."
"So what do you do now, Tony Robbins?"
"I... okay, got it. I build a little frame for it... on wheels!... so I can just roll my Window of Opportunity around and still have one hand free to shake hands with Success!"
"Hmm. Still won't work."
"Why not?"
"Because the window is so big. Now it's become an Obstacle instead of an Opportunity."
"This is all too confusing. And this glass is getting frigging heavy. Here. I'm just gonna set this down for a sec and -- "
CRASH!!!!
"Hmm. You broke your little window," Raider quietly observed. "I feel quite... shattered..." he added with a slight giggle.
"Well, great. What the hell do I do now?"
"Look around you."
"Okay. And?"
"Well, I could be wrong, but seems to me that now it's a much bigger window..."
